Almighty God, do not allow your holy glory to be abused on account of our sins. For we have sinned against you in many ways, because we do not obey your eternal Word, and by ingratitude and impatience we daily provoke your wrath against us. Therefore, you justly punish us. But, O God, remember your holy mercy and have compassion on us. Grant us knowledge of our sins and true repentance. Establish and strengthen the ministers and magistrates of your people, so that they might faithfully and confidently preach your Word and lawfully and justly use the sword of the state. Defend us from all deceit and treachery. Scatter all evil and destructive councils, which plot against your Word and Church. O God, do not deprive us of your Spirit and Word, but bestow on us true faith, patience, and perseverance. Come to the aid of your Church, and deliver it from violence, delusion, and tyranny. Also, strengthen all fearful and afflicted minds, and send us your peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
